Practice Chassis Driving

Our practice chassis (one of two near-identical robots that we are building this year, the other being the show/competition bot) is rolling around and it’s pretty cool! The shooter and ball intake will be installed in a matter of days.

Automatic Balancing

After just a few days of work, we have an automatic balancing proof-of-concept working. Using a gyro to measure the degree offset, corrections are made autonomously to balance the bridge with different amounts of weights on it.

Our Drive System, Obstacle crossing, Balancing, Shooting, and Ball Retrieval subcommittees continued to work hard on putting design proposals together and testing out different concepts. It was a great day!

Mecanum Test

We tested Mecanum wheels on a test chassis going over the bridge and barrier. While it’s viable, we are still evaluating these and other options for our drivetrain.

Who We Are

Located in Anaheim, California, FIRST Team 3309 (the Friarbots) have been constantly exploring the realms of science, technology, and engineering. Just this year, the team has expanded to include Rosary High School and Connelly High School. The team is currently composed of 57 students, five mentors, and ten sponsors including Abbott Pharmaceuticals, Google, and Raytheon. The Friarbots strive to promote FIRST ideals in everything they do.
